More Czech citizens could be arrested in DR

Last week seven Czech fugitive criminals were arrested and deported from the DR. They were arrested in a joint operation with Czech investigators and are suspected of money laundering and fraud in their country. The seven arrived in the Czech Republic on Sunday, 28 October. Four of the fugitives had already been sentenced in absentia, and were thus immediately taken to Czech prisons. Although the Dominican and the Czech Republics do not have a formal extradition agreement, Dominican officials were willing to arrest and deport the Czechs because some of them had committed felonies in the country, reports Czech radio service. Czech radio says that the Dominican police is collaborating in the possible arrest of at least ten more Czech citizens in the Dominican Republic who are suspected of sexual and violent crimes, including murder.
