Last night, Tuesday 6 November, Juan Carlos Perez had his best night of the season before a near sell-out crowd of over 17,000 with a homerun and two doubles to lead the Aguilas Cibaenas to an 8-4 come-from-behind victory over the Gigantes del Cibao in Santiago. Converted shortstop TJ Pena (Tony Junior), the son of New York Yankee coach Tony Pena, got the victory with sterling work as a reliever after Lorenzo Barcelo got off to a shaky start that left the Aguilas four runs down.
In Santo Domingo, Starling Marte led the Leones del Escogido to a 10-7 victory over the Tigres de Licey. The Leones’ victory sent the Tigres into the cellar with a 5-10 record.
In the east, the Estrellas Orientales defeated the Toros del Este when Todd Linden and Nelson Perez hit homeruns and Junior Lake went 4-5 as the Estrellas halted their four-game losing streak by defeating the Toros 9-2 in the Francisco Micheli Stadiun in La Romana. The loss also ended the Toros’ five-game winning streak that took them from the basement up to third place in the standings. The win allowed the Estrellas to stay in second place behind the Aguilas
