Public hearing for defamation and libel article

Deputy Demostenes Martinez has convinced his fellow legislators to call a public hearing for Wednesday 14 November, at 10am, to listen to experts and defenders of freedom of expression on an article that will have a widespread and chilling effect on people who demand accountability from government officials. The bill establishes jail terms for criticism to government officials’ use of government funds. The permanent commission of justice of the Chamber of Deputies is inviting the public and witnesses to testify at the hearing.
