The National Meteorological Office (ONAMET) is maintaining its alert for floods, overflowing rivers and streams, and mudslides in several of the country’s provinces due to the rains that were caused by a frontal system, although rainfall is now expected to decrease.
The provinces under alert are Montecristi, Dajabon, Santiago Rodriguez, Valverde (Mao), Puerto Plata, Espaillat (Moca), Maria Trinidad Sanchez (Nagua) and Samana.
The forecasters say that they are still expecting rain in the north, northeast, southeast and central mountain areas but there will be less than over the past few days. The wind is expected to be from the northeast, which will keep temperatures more pleasant.
