More deaths from dengue and cholera

Deaths from dengue and cholera continue to rise with 30 deaths caused by dengue so far this month (November 2012), from 6,315 cases and 47 from cholera that has registered 6,622 suspected cases, 1,571 confirmed.

The province of Monte Cristi is under red alert for dengue and there is a yellow alert for Santo Domingo, National District, San Cristobal, Maria Trinidad Sanchez (Nagua), Barahona, La Vega, Duarte (San Francisco de Macoris), Azua, San Jose de Ocoa, Santiago Rodriguez, Pedernales, Peravia (Bani) and Hato Mayor.

Public Health Minister Freddy Hidaldo says that the number of dengue cases continues to rise and that prevention is everyone’s responsibility.
