Senate passes Internet tax amendment

The Senate has passed various proposals including the bill that reinstates the provision whereby Dominicans can make Internet purchases up to US$200 without paying taxes, which will now be sent to the Executive Branch for approval

The Senate sent the Treasury Commission the fiscal amnesty bill received from the Presidency.

A second reading of the Ministry of Foreign Relations organic law was approved with some modifications. This bill seeks to create a Diplomatic and Consular Board and strengthen the institutional framework of the Ministry of Foreign Relations. It now needs to return to the Chamber of Deputies.

The senators also approved the first reading of a proposal to name the Yamasa public hospital Sisters of the Immaculate Conception. The first reading of a bill to declare the province of La Vega as an ‘Ecotouristic Province’, as proposed by Senator Euclides Sanchez, was passed.
