The police have announced that Jose Vicioso, aged 80, the husband of the murdered pharmacist Teresa Batista Matos, 83, died last night, Monday 19 November.
His wife was stabbed to death together with her maid Josefina Suero by three men who entered their house in the Santo Domingo neighborhood of Evaristo Morales. Vicioso, an ophthalmologist, initially survived the attack and was taken to the Corazones Unidos clinic where he later died of his injuries.
Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Unit announced that Carlos Montero Montero, alias El Gringo, has been arrested in connection with the case in the south west of the country. The police say he was accompanied by the niece of the other housemaid, Lourdes Valenzuela, whose body was found in Villa Mella the day after the murder at the house. Montero, who was arrested in Hondo Valle, San Juan de la Maguana province, is suspected of the four murders.
