Leading pathologist Sergio Sarita Valdez has announced his findings following the autopsy on Doctor Soanny Montero, who was found dead in her car a few weeks ago, and said that it is grueling and sad but he was unable to find a cause of death, hence leaving the case unresolved.
He said that it seemed that the only tests that were carried out by the National Institute of Forensic Pathology (Inacif) were for barbiturates that came back negative, even though they knew he needed a full toxicology analysis.
He said that it was thought that the only thing that could have caused her death was barbiturate overdose, so that was what the body was screened for. He did not discount that being a medical professional she could have taken something like Diazepam that would not have shown up in the screening, but he was concerned that for some reason the toxicology screening was only for barbiturates. Sarita Valdez said it was the first time he has heard of an autopsy being carried out only to find barbiturates.
He said it appeared that the family wanted it to make the case appear like a natural death, and the investigators chose not to dig deeper.
