Armed deputies in Chamber debates

Some deputies enter the plenary sessions with a firearm, which is against Chamber regulations, despite the fact that there is a metal detector at the entrance. Some female police agents also watch the entry and exit of the legislators, reporters, photographers and cameramen as well as legislative personnel.

The complaint was made by the president of the Discipline Commission of the Chamber of Deputies, Henry Meran, who announced that he is carrying out an investigation to determine which of the legislators are violating the rules. Several years ago, lockers were installed in the Chamber of Deputies for storing firearms belonging to the deputies, yet in some cases legislators are still entering the sessions with firearms.
