Dominican Baseball update

Last night, Tuesday 20 November, the Major League star of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Hanley Ramirez, greeted the pitching of the Aguilas Cibaenas with two doubles and a single to lead the Tigres del Licey to their first victory in six games, 5-1. The game was tied in the sixth inning when Ramirez hit his second double and was followed by another two-bagger by Juan Francisco. Although the Aguilas were able to get the first man up in each of the last five innings on base, they were held in check by the Licey pitching.

In La Romana, the Leones del Escogido defeated the Toros del Este to close in on the all-important fourth spot in the standings. It would be very strange if the lights were out in the Quisqueya Stadium after the 21 December at the end of the first part of the tournament because neither the Tigres nor the Leones qualified for the Round Robin portion of the tourney. Right now, Licey is in the basement and Escogido is in fifth place.
