The authorities say that Dr. Soanny Montero, the young woman who went missing and was found dead in her car a week later in a parking garage in Santo Domingo last month, died of poisoning from an unknown substance. The National Forensic Pathological Institute has not been able to establish the exact type of poison, but the head of the institute, Dr. Santos Jimenez Baez, said that violence in this case has been ruled out. He said that there was “a 90% probability that the toxic substance was self-administered, based on her knowledge of medicine.” He said that they had only tested for Phenobarbital, but that there were many other possibilities, as reported in El Caribe.
