Whisky thieves arrested

Yesterday, Wednesday 21 November, the police arrested two drivers who reportedly confessed to having stolen two containers full of different brands of whisky, which had been imported into the country via the Caucedo Multimodal Port in Santo Domingo East.

The drivers, Cesar Augusto Sabala Espinal and Santo Confesor de los Santos, told the police that they had been hired by a man, only named as Luis, to drive the containers to a warehouse in Santiago, for which they were paid RD$21,000. However, as they left the port, Luis called them and said the plan had changed, sending them to a warehouse in El Almirante, also in Santo Domingo East, where four smaller trucks were waiting to take the whisky.
