A French national who is accused of trying to bribe anti-drug agents with RD$100,000, was arrested yesterday, Thursday 22 November by agents of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) and procedures begun for his deportation. He was reportedly sentenced to seven years in jail by the Paris Criminal Court before fleeing abroad. DNCD spokesman Roberto Lebron identified the man as 28-year old Romain Didier Goyard (alias Macley). Lebron said that DNCD agents had been trailing Goyard after he was observed moving from one rural area to another. Prosecutor Beatriz Rosario Familia was present at the arrest. Goyard, who now faces extradition to France, had been living in Las Matas de Farfan, in the southwestern province of San Juan de la Maguana.
