According to statistics released by the Gender-Based Violence Unit, the Public Prosecutor’s office in the National District received 7,298 complaints about gender- based, sexual and domestic violence between January and September this year.
July had the most complaints with 917, followed by August with 913. The lowest month was April with 692.
The statistics show that 41,108 complaints of violence against women were received between 2007 and 2011 in the 14 neighborhoods that make up the National District.
