As part of a project called ‘Investment in Social Protection’ (PIPS) funded by the World Bank, the institution has handed over a check for more than RD$15 million to the Central Electoral Board (JCE) in recognition of its work to issue birth certificates to around 80,000 Dominicans, via the Late Declarations Unit, between March 2011 and August 2012.
JCE president Dr. Roberto Rosario Marquez thanked the Bank for its support, and said that this work would continue.
