The Metropolitan Transport Authority (AMET) and transportation magnates including Blas Peralta, Juan Hubieres, Antonio Marte and Oscar Almanzar, have signed an agreement aimed at speeding up traffic all over the country, especially in Greater Santo Domingo, during the Christmas holidays, according to Diario Libre.
Amet director General Juan Brown Perez said that he would take all the necessary measures to clear the roads, with the aim of making traffic move faster in the city and the major population centers around the country.
Fenatrado president Blas Peralta said that he supports the initiative that includes the removal of junk from sidewalks and vehicles that are not properly parked will be removed and taken to the old dog track. Another measure will be to keep trucks from using the left lanes.
Peralta told General Brown that he would support any measure that the agency takes against truck drivers who break traffic laws on the highways.
General Juan Brown promised that he would hold another meeting with the transport leaders within three months and call a press conference to report back on the results of the these measures.
