The Minister of Public Works, Gonzalo Castillo, has told Hoy reporters that the fact that the Ministry has exhausted its 2012 budget would not stop them from continuing to fix small projects all over the country. Castillo was interviewed as he received a congratulatory letter from a group of state contractors for having paid off some RD$900 million in arrears over the first 100 days of the Medina administration. Castillo listed some of the major projects that he expected to be completed once the 2013 budget is available: several highways in the east, including the route between Miches and Macao and the San Pedro de Macoris Beltway. Without providing precise details, he added that the big Medina administration projects would be up for tender in February or March next year.
