Shooting victim to be moved to Miami

Everything is ready for transferring a young engineer, Francina Hungria, to the United States in the hope that her left eye may be saved. The National Foundation for Integrated Development (Fundi), headed by Senator Felix Bautista, is coordinating the process.

Yesterday the legislator said that Fundi would cover 10% of Hungria’s medical expenses and the Ministry of Public Health would cover the other 90% to pay the Abel Gonzalez Clinic. He said that everything is ready to transfer Francina Hungria to the Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, including an air ambulance, so that ophthalmologists may conduct a thorough examination in an attempt to save the sight in her left eye. He said that he already has a sort of contract with the hospital for this purpose and they are now waiting for the patient to be in a fit state to travel. The doctors who are treating her have issued a certificate authorizing the trip to the hospital in Miami.

In other news related to the case, Listin Diario is reporting that the Police have identified the two suspects in the shooting and are investigating others who might be involved. According to the newspaper, dozens of people have identified the two who were captured on surveillance videos obtained from nearby stores. Without providing specific details, Police spokesman Maximo Baez Aybar told reporters that several people were under arrest.

Meanwhile, AMET head General Juan Brown said that they were investigating Francina Hungria’s claim that a pair of AMET agents were standing less than 60 yards from the incident but did nothing to impede the crime.
