Council of Ministers will see National Budget today

President Danilo Medina will head a meeting at the Presidential Palace today, Monday 3 December, where the Council of Ministers will discuss the 2013 National Budget.

The Minister of the Economy, Planning and Development, Juan Temistocles Montas has said on several occasions that the government wants a budget of RD$470 billion for 2013. The Constitution of the Republic, in its article 128, says that the President has until 1 October to submit the budget to the Congress, but Danilo Medina delayed his submission until the tax reform had been dealt with. According to Diario Libre, for this to happen, he sent a letter to Senate president Reinaldo Pared Perez in early October, notifying him of the postponement.
