Mipyme in government purchases: RD$29 billion

The micro, small, and medium company share in government purchases could reach RD$29 billion next year, according to Public Contracts director Yokasta Guzman and other government officials who deal with government suppliers. According to Guzman the RD$29 billion will go to small businesses all over the country as part of the 20% that Law 488-08 establishes for all government purchases. She said that each institution should show how this 20% to small, micro or medium business is being spent. She said that the Directorate General of Government Procurement would be monitoring the purchases to guarantee access to government purchasing orders for these small companies. She told Hoy reporters that this measure fulfills one of President Danilo Medina’s campaign promises.
