The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) is forecasting an increase in cloudiness and rains in the north, northeast and northwestern parts of the country for today, Monday 3 December. It is raining in Santiago this morning. The Onamet bulletin says that there are two low-pressure troughs, the first over the northern part of the island and the other to the north of Puerto Rico. As a result, rains are expected over most of the northern half of the Dominican Republic and also in the southeast. The weather bureau added that there was an area of disturbance some 1,690 kilometers to the southwest of the Azores with a 40% chance of becoming a sub-tropical cyclone.
