US magician Wayne Houchin was a guest on the Dominican Republic’s “Approach the Stars” television program on November 26 when, he says, host Franklin Barazarte unexpectedly poured flammable cologne on his head. It is unclear what ignited the cologne.
Houchin, who was rushed to the hospital with first- and second-degree burns to his face and hands, has since been discharged. He says that he has hired lawyers to prepare a complaint so that the authorities can pursue criminal charges against the host.
Barazarte did not respond to phone calls seeking comment.
