Thousands of students wishing to enroll at the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD) have not been able to register due to problems with the IT system.
According to Diogenes Gutierrez from the Federation of Dominican Students, around 17,000 students have tried to register over the last 21 days but have been unable to. He said that he has spoken to the authorities but they have not told him what is happening.
He confirmed that a manual system was in place, but that each semester it demonstrates that the university does not have the capacity to manage the registration technology.
