According to the president of the Presidential Commission in Support of Provincial Development, Francisco del Valle, a stretch of what can barely be called a road between Pedernales and Puerto Escondido will be repaired. Del Valle told Listin Diario that the 45 kilometers would allow for improved production of crops like potatoes, onions, carrots and others, which will have access to local markets as well as markets in Haiti. The refurbished road will also promote internal tourism, according to the official. The international “highway” along the Dominican Republic’s border with Haiti is an adventure for tourists as well as locals.
