The Patriotic Foundations Federation has handed the Attorney General, Francisco Dominguez Brito, a petition signed by more that 12,000 people asking him to apply Law number 58-80 from 1962 to stop the promotion of Trujillo by his family, in respect for the victims of his dictatorial regime.
Listin Diario reports that the petition was handed in yesterday morning, Monday 10 December by a group headed by 14 June 1959 expedition survivor Mayobanex Vargas, anti-Trujillo fighter and widower of Maria Teresa Mirabal, Leandro Guzman, Maria Mercedes Rodriguez, widow of Ornes, Leonor Gonzalez, widow of Tejeda and Tomasina Cabral, torture survivors.
The document asks for any actions that exalt or promote Rafael Leonidas Trujillo, to be banned, and Dominguez Brito promised he would study it and do everything to ensure the Law was obeyed. He said that the Trujillo regime could not happen again in the country.
