Four bodies of young men were found yesterday, Wednesday 12 December in secluded areas near the Duarte highway between Bonao and Villa Altagracia. The police believe they were victims of drug-related homicides as the men were killed in execution style.
Police spokesman Major General Maximo Baez Ayber told Listin Diarios that gang-related drug killings usually occur to eliminate competition or settle accounts due to cheating or a business deal gone wrong.
Although he declined to give specific details he said that three of the bodies were found at kilometer 57 of the Duarte highway, in front of the entrance to Los Mogotes. Two were inside a rented Suzuki Vitara and the third, who had been doused in gasoline and burned, was in an orange tree field near the road. The fourth was found much further up at kilometer 100, in front of Loma Miranda and was completely burned. All had been shot and all were killed at the same time, and according to the investigator in Bonao, Colonel Juan Hilario it was evident they were all part of the same case.
So far only two have been publicly identified: Efrain de la Rosa, 27, from Santo Domingo East, who had previous convictions for robbery and Wilmerson Bueno Jimenez.
The investigation is being led by the Head of Criminal Investigations, General Ney Aldrin Bautista, and so far 20 people have been questioned and four detained for further investigation.
