An international drug trafficking network, headed by French citizens who reportedly recruited drug mules to send to Madrid and Paris carrying cocaine, has been broken up by the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD).
The DNCD said that the gang leaders were identified as Marco Sebadoun, age 25, Sami Moussa, 26, and Josue Armando Flores Barrios, 24, who were arrested during a raid at their home in San Pedro de Macoris.
The police are still looking for an Italian man said to have strong links with the group.
The arrested men, together with their Italian associate, recruited Corina Lantigua Martinez, 25, to take around one and a half kilos of cocaine to Madrid inside her stomach and attached to her body, but she was arrested in Punta Cana airport before getting on the plane.
