During the celebration of its 34th Annual Forum in Rome, the Parliamentarians for Global Action group (PGA) unanimously elected Dominican Deputy Minou Tavarez Mirabal to chair its International Council.
Deputy Victor Bisono, coordinator of the group of Dominican legislators attending the session said that the PGA is the largest international organization in the world with more than 1,300 legislators from 120 democratic countries.
Its objective is to promote peace, democracy, human rights, sustainable development and population issues throughout the world, and it aims to inform, convince and mobilize the various parliaments to achieve these objectives.
It is the first time that a Dominican legislator has held such a high-level position in an international parliamentary group, as reported in Hoy.
