The authorities have arrested nine people in connected with the three murders in the Los Mogotes section of Villa Altagracia last week. The nine young men, all between the ages of 19 and 30 are under investigation, not only for the murders but also for armed robberies committed outside banks and on people who had withdrawn large sums of money from banks. The Police seized two weapons and several cell phones. The group, according to El Nuevo Diario, is being investigated in connection with the deaths of Manolo Bocio Montero, 30, Francis Rafael Roche Pineda (Pacholo), 26, and Efrain de la Rosa, 27. Two of the bodies were found inside a rented SUV and the other some 30 yards away. The group is also accused of robbing retired Police captain Leonardo Antonio Rodriguez Diaz. The thieves took RD$146,000 in cash, a Longines wristwatch, a pair of Cartier glasses and two cell phones, after the retired cop had withdrawn the cash from a bank.
