It’s Christmas time

Starting tomorrow, Thursday 20 December, the Presidential Social Plan will begin a series of activities that includes handing out Christmas baskets, dinners and popular fiestas in barrios and other neighborhoods. The numbers are staggering: 875,000 baskets will be distributed, starting in the south on Thursday. Cesar Prieto, the head of the Plan, told El Caribe that on Friday, 21 December they would be handing out the boxes in the northern region and on Saturday, 22 December in the east. Sunday, 23 December is the turn for Santo Domingo and the National District. Provincial governors will be responsible for local distribution. The head of the Economic Cafeterias, Ramon Rodriguez, said that between Thursday, 20 and Sunday 30 December, they will hold five thousand Christmas dinners in the country’s 155 municipalities, benefiting 755,000 people. There will also be toys for the children.
