The National Pathological Forensic Institute performed 103 autopsies in November of which 48 were on victims of gunshot wounds, 13 stabbings, 22 drownings, 10 poisonings and people who had jumped to their deaths. In the first 18 days of December they have performed 49 autopsies for a total of 152. Of this number, during the first week of November there were 31 violent deaths, of which 16 were from gunshots, 11 from knives during fights in different places, two drowned, one was poisoned and another was hanged.
The report says that during the second week, 21 Dominicans died and 12 of them by gunshot, five of natural causes (one of AIDS) and four were different types of suicides. Likewise, the Institute performed 20 autopsies during the period from 15 to 22 November. Of this number, 11 deaths were from gunshots, five were stabbing victims, two drowned, one killed himself with a gunshot to the head and another jumped to his death. Finally, during the last week, 23 to 30 November, 31 deaths were reported, of which 15 were gunshot victims, 12 were stabbings and three were suicides.
According to the daily reports from the Police, so far in December they have reported a total of 49 violent deaths in the last 11 days, with 17 of these by gunshot, one was beaten and another hanged himself. Four of the 17 died between Monday afternoon inside a vehicle in the Jardines del Norte and two in Los Alcarrizos, another three were murdered by a gang in the Los Mogotes sector of Villa Altagracia, two in Villa Gonzalez last Sunday, an elderly man in Dajabon, whose limbs were cut off and burned, another body was found in Miranda, also burned, one in Sabana Perdida on Friday 14 December, two in Pedro Brand, one shot, and the other stabbed on Thursday morning and the same day in the morning one in Higuey and another in La Romana, last Tuesday; on Monday 10 December two men were shot to death in La Vega.
