In what comes as bad news for the Dominican tourist industry, a pair of Swiss tourists who were walking along the boulevard in Higuey were wounded while being robbed at gunpoint by persons unknown. The police are investigating in order to find the persons responsible. George Christinger and his wife, Susana, were surprised by the criminals while they were walking along the street.
The thieves shot and wounded the man and took their belongings, according to the report from the authorities. The couple was walking along accompanied by their daughter and granddaughter and stopped to buy drinks when they were attacked by the criminals who, when they attempted to grab the woman’s purse, wounded the man. The crime is being investigated by the deputy district attorney for Higuey, Pedro Justo Nunez Pilier and Colonel Luis Sanchez Mejia from the National Police. The police report reveals that the attackers wounded Christinger twice, and he was treated at the Libertad Medical Center in Higuey.
