The mayor of Santo Domingo North, Francisco Fernandez, has brought up the fact that the Transport Reorganization Office (OPRET) has been operating the Metro for five years but has not built a single one of the collateral projects that they had promised the community, such as pedestrian bridges, street repairs and the integration of the region into this means of transportation. He told Hoy reporter Juan Ramirez that because of this, the local city government had to build a pedestrian bridge to service the Hermanas Mirabal Metro station. The bridge benefits more than 6,000 pedestrians a day, including students who attend nearby schools.
