Two women rescued

Over the past few days, two women have been rescued by observant police at checkpoints in Santo Domingo East and in San Cristobal. In the first case which happened over the weekend, Wanda Martinez, the 20 year old former mistress of 56-year old Carlos Porfirio Nolasco was discovered bound hand and foot, with duct tape over her mouth in the trunk of an old Toyota Camry. Also found in the trunk were gasoline, a pick and a shovel. Because the police noticed certain nervousness in Nolasco at an ordinary “Quiet Christmas” traffic checkpoint, they decided to search his car and found the young woman in the trunk. The woman told Diario Libre that she feared for her life.

Yesterday, Tuesday 25 December, the National Police in San Cristobal rescued a teenage girl who was being carried in the trunk of another car, driven by two men and accompanied by yet another young girl. The 15-year old was discovered during a routine police stop in El Pomier. Yet another Toyota Camry was used in the alleged abduction. Two men aged 27 and 25 and the other teenager are being held on charges of kidnapping. All four are from La Caleta in Boca Chica.
