JCE needs money for plastic

Central Electoral Board (JCE) judge Cesar Felix Felix urged the Medina government to allot the RD$500 million that is needed to renew the national identification and voter registration card (the “cedula”) for nearly seven million inhabitants.

He stressed the importance of renewing this document, which has been overdue for several years, because of the inconveniences that it causes hundreds of Dominicans who live overseas and who live here. He said “this money was budgeted, but what happened was that it was not given to us, but efforts must be made because this is now an issue in the country and this obliges us to find it (the money), even if it is under some rocks.” He said that the JCE is preparing the public tender for acquiring the materials.
