Puerto Rican kills teenager

A 60-year old Puerto Rican man, Cristobal Estrada Medina has been arrested and has admitted to the murder a 14-year old girl. After committing the murder, Estrada took poison in a suicide attempt but has since recovered.

Sergia Delgado Benoit, mother of the late teenager Angela Daniela Rodriguez Delgado said the man had shot her daughter in the head after the girl refused to have sex with him. The girl was a seventh grade student in the municipality of La Canela in Santiago. As reported in Listin Diario, the killing occurred in the morning of Wednesday 2 January. The man arrived drunk and threatened to kill her.

In an interview with Listin Diario her parents say they opposed the relationship. As reported, Estrada claimed he was drunk.

The mother said that her daughter had promised Estrada that she would marry him after graduating from school.

Neighbors told Hoy that if the family had not accepted gifts from the man the tragedy would not have occurred.

The girl was buried in the La Canela cemetery yesterday, Thursday 10 January.
