Priest calls for an end to movable feasts

The practice of switching around of the dates of important feasts such as Three Kings Day and Juan Pablo Duarte Day takes away from the significance of the commemorative dates and promotes a culture of laziness, according to Salesian priest Jesus Maria Tejada. He is asking the Chamber of Deputies to stop moving them according to Law 139-97. The priest, who heads the Youth House in the Colonial Zone, said that he agreed with Cardinal Lopez Rodriguez that switching the dates on these days tends to diminish their value to Dominican culture.
