Another “drug boat” in Ocoa Bay

The Dominican anti-drug authorities, assisted by three United States agencies, have thwarted yet another shipment by a speedboat loaded with cocaine along the coastline of the Ocoa Bay. The launch was pursued into international waters where it was forced to throw 30 packs totaling nearly 900 kilograms into the sea. A United States Coast Guard cutter picked up the drugs, but no arrests were announced, according to Diario Libre.

The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) released the information yesterday afternoon, Monday 14 January. The institution was alerted during the early hours of Sunday, 13 January, leading to the deployment of the Dominican Republic Interdiction System, launching the pursuit that ended in the flight of the crew of the ship that had come from Colombia. The launch with the drug traffickers was detected by the United States Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and the US Coast Guard, immediately activating the Interdiction System with two of the Dominican Air Force’s Super Tucano aircraft, three Dominican Navy launches, and a DNCD plane and helicopter.
