Following a meeting with President Danilo Medina yesterday, Tuesday 15 January, Foreign Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso said that the heads of government of the Dominican Republic and Haiti would be meeting in February to discuss the issue of Haitians trying to enter the country at Dajabon. He also said that he would meet with his Haitian counterpart, Laurent Lamothe in Chile next week where they will both be attending a CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) meeting, to discuss commercial, migratory and other issues.
He announced that President Medina would travel to Port-au-Prince in February at the invitation of the Haitian President, Michel Martelly, although the exact date had not yet been confirmed.
