Lots of pending legislation

The laws on Political Groups and Parties, the Penal Code, the Organic Law of the Chamber of Accounts are just some of the 145 legislative proposals that ran out of time when the second session of the legislature ended its work last year. Some 67 bills remained to be dealt with in the Senate, and 78 in the Chamber of Deputies, according to a report in Diario Libre.

These bills were re-introduced and need to be heard again by both chambers. Some have been approved by the Senate and others by the Chamber of Deputies, but approval by the other chamber is needed for them to become law.

Other proposals that will have to be dealt with recognized and dealt with once again include one that deals with the Rights of Persons in their relation with the Administration and one on Administrative Procedures, the law of the Medal of Merit for Public Service, one that modifies the law which moves holidays, one on the registration and maintenance of public works and one for the concession of projects and services. The Organic Law of the Armed Services, the bill on sworn statement of assets and illegal enrichment, the modification of the laws on checks, are all being reintroduced in order to send them to commissions.
