Summing up the four years of work of departing IDB head of mission Manuel Labrado Fernandez, Treasury Minister Simon Lizardo Mezquita highlighted that over the period, the Dominican Republic had received US$1,316.7 million from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for a series of projects designed to contribute to the progress of the country, as reported in Listin Diario.

He made the comments at the leaving reception for Manuel Labrado Fernandez, IDB mission head in the country, who is due to leave at the end of the month.

Lizardo Mezquita said that the amount involved shows the IDB’s commitment to maintaining the country’s stability and development. He commented that Labrado Fernandez had represented the IDB during a turbulent economic period internationally, yet had continued to lend money to this country leaving no doubt that his diligent management had contributed to its success.

Labrado, whilst thanking him for the farewell reception, highlighted the Dominican Republic’s great potential, especially in the areas of agriculture and tourism.
