Still delays for registering at state university

According to Juan Alberto Aguilera, an Executive Committee member of the Dominican Students’ Federation (FED), the leading student organization at the state university, the Autonomous University of Santo Domingo (UASD), around 25,000 students have not been able to register for the January to May semester. Classes will start today.

Aguilera said that the FED would continue to ask the University authorities to resolve the technical problems that are preventing students from logging into the web page and selecting their courses. As reported, FED president Ambiorix Rosario is due to meet with university rector Mateo Aquino Febrillet on behalf of the 25,000 students remaining to register and that could lose the semester.

The registration process should have ended in December last year, but due to problems with the system it was extended until 20 January.
