Dominican raided by FBI

The FBI has raided the Vitreo-Retinal Consultants Eye Center in West Palm Beach, owned by Dominican Dr. Salomon Melgen. According to the Miami Herald, Dr. Melgen owes the United States tax authorities millions of dollars, despite the fact that he donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to several politicians.

According to the Miami Herald, Dr. Melgen has an outstanding lien of more than US$11 million to the IRS.

The report also states that Melgen donated hundreds of thousands of dollars to several politicians, including Senator Bill Nelson, Representative Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Senator Bob Menendez of New Jersey.

In addition, the doctor is accused of taking Senator Menendez on free trips to the Dominican Republic where he allegedly provided him with underage prostitutes.

According to the Miami Herald, the doctor frequently flies to his native Dominican Republic in his own private plane.
