During the past six years, trade between the UK and the DR has totaled US$1.34 billion. In 2007, trade between both countries was worth US$204 million, but six years on in 2012 it had increased to US$246 million. The data was compiled by the British Chamber of Commerce. Chamber president Campos de Moya says that the trade balance was positive for the DR with US$72 million more in exports. He said more than 80 lines of Dominican products are being exported.
During the same period more than a million UK tourists have visited the country, as reported in Diario Libre.
Campos de Moya said that the DR will be the guest nation at this year’s the 67th Fresh Produce Consortium Annual Dinner to be held in London on 2 February. The Chamber is promoting Dominican Week in London in May.
