The Minister of Sport, Jaime David Fernandez Mirabal, has held a meeting with the General Director of the Dominican Republic Center for Export and Investment (CEI-RD), and representatives of the Ministry and Tourism and the Dominican Golf Federation (FEDOGOLF), to go through the plans for the 2013 PGA Golf Open and the International Tournament which will be held here in the country. ?The Dominican Republic Golf Open will be held from May 27 to June 2 and the Open Tour in the second week of November. He said that the two events would help promote the country as a golf destination and also promote tourism, not only for golf players, but also for followers of the sport. The Tourism Ministry, the Association of Hotel and Restaurant Owners and FEDOGOLF will run a joint campaign to promote the event around the world. ?President Danilo Medina has also issued a decree saying that the Dominican Republic has decided to promote itself internationally as a golf destination as it has world-class standards of infrastructure and an excellent climate for playing the sport all year round.
