Caribbean World Series 2013

A lack of effective relief pitching cost the team from the Dominican Republic their unbeaten streak yesterday in Hermosillo, Mexico, the scene of this year’s Caribbean World Series. Puerto Rico, or rather, second baseman Rey Navarro, defeated the Dominican team, with his two homeruns, 6-4.

The Caguas Criollos, representing Puerto Rico, handed the Leones del Escogido their first defeat of the tournament with a dramatic come-from-behind victory in the tenth inning. The Dominicans fell to 3-1 in the tourney and Puerto Rico obtained its first victory. The Caguas second baseman drove in four runs with key hits and a homerun.
