DR stand wins in FITUR

The colorful and modern Dominican Republic stand was awarded the best stand design award for the 33rd FITUR travel fair that closed on Sunday 3 February in Madrid. Fitur is the leading Spanish market travel fair.

In the country categories, this year’s winners were the Tourism Promotion Council of Mexico, Tourism Portugal and the Tourism Office of the Dominican Republic. The jurors awarded the prize for the professional disposition to the marketing needs of the product, communication, promotion and identity of the stand with the product, and the originality and innovativeness of the design.

A total of 166 countries participated in the 33rd Feria International de Turismo (Fitur) from 30 January to 3 February.

The Dominican Republic stand covered an area of 365 square meters and a bright yellow, red and blue and white color scheme was used, in commemoration of the 2013 celebration of the bicentennial of founding father Juan Pablo Duarte’s birth.

Javier Valdez, when presenting the award to the Dominican Republic said: “The jurors, when choosing the Dominican Republic for the best stand award took into consideration the color schemes of bands of colors that floated over the stand, generating an attractive and different visual effect, the open space that drew attention and where the distinct areas of information for different marketing activities were carried out.”

Minister of Tourism Francisco Javier Garcia presided over the Dominican participation in Fitur and expressed his pleasure at the award.
