Hit man arrested

The police have announced that they have captured one of the alleged contract killers who shot a man dead in the area known as ‘Linconazo’ on Av. Lincoln in Santo Domingo on Friday night, 1 February and that they have also identified the person who paid them a large sum of money to commit the crime.

The police spokesman, General Maximo Baez Aybar, said that the man they have in custody is a former police sergeant major, Jose Leonel Rodriguez, who has admitted his role in the killing.

Still at large are Jordan Garcia Contreras, who has a criminal record for robbery and former police officer Diomaris Ramon Encarnacion.

According to the Police they were hired by a former Naval officer Hector Luis Mendez Alvarez (Rubio El Marino), who paid them EUR7,500 to kill 35-year old Alexandro Acosta Soto.

Baez Aybar said that Encarnacion had shot Acosta Soto, while former sergeant Rodriguez was hired as a lookout in case anything went wrong.

He said that during the investigation, Rodriguez said that he and Diomaris Ramon Encarnacion, who has fled to New York, gave Garcia Contreras the EUR7,500 for driving the motorcycle to commit the crime.
