Metro stations attract business

The Metro route to North Santo Domingo passes through some areas that present a rural image of the Dominican Republic. However, it seems that the areas near the Metro stations are acting as magnets for enterprising vendors to set up shop.

According to a report in Hoy, this includes as many as 12 banks, pharmacies, stores, telephone offices and electric company booths.

According to reporter Juan M. Ramirez, after four years in operation and despite the fact that the government has not yet started the feeder bus services, the stations have stimulated the emergence of business in the surrounding areas.
