A group of leading PRD members announced yesterday, Monday 11 February, that from now on they will place themselves outside of everything that is making it difficult to unite this organization.
Luis Abinader, Neney Cabrera, Eduardo Sanz Lovaton, Guido Gomez Mazara, Eligio Jaquez, Roberto Fulcar, Antonio Almonte, Angel de la Cruz, Josefa Castillo, Alexis Jimenez, Juan Mateo, Jose Santana, Leo Adames, Pedro Tineo, Jesus Vasquez and Tony Pena Guaba argued for a convention that was agreed to and the “opening and liberalization of the party, points that could be guidelines in the reforestation, in the short term, of the hopes of the great PRD family.”
During a press conference they said in a joint statement that they constitute the new leadership and the events of these last two years have demonstrated that it is impossible to reunite the effective unity of the PRD through the leadership of the parties in conflict, so that the way out should be mediated by non-belligerent sectors that foster a dialogue, responsible agreements and rational negotiations.
“We place ourselves at the disposition of these sectors for everything that can help the success of any of the unifying initiatives,” they stated.
They said that their position was clear and firm, of a sincere unifying vocation, convinced that unity, no matter what sacrifices have to be made in order to achieve it, “should constitute today the principal currency of our responsibility and our ethic as leading members of the PRD.”
